“However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me.” -Acts 20:24
This verse challenges me for sure. It makes me desire to have the same mindset that Paul did when he wrote it.
I desire to consider my life as “nothing” in comparison to God and His plans.
We aren’t meant to build a life so wonderful and “perfect” that we consider it the highest treasure in our life. Instead, we’re meant to build a life around God and spreading the hope we can have in Him.
Our purposes, while all may look a little different in action and design, are ultimately the same. To testify of the wonder and grace of our God. Each one of us is made to spread the Good News of Jesus and draw as many to Him as we can.
Paul describes life as a “race” and his main purpose was to finish it – successfully. I too want to run the race of my life successfully. Not success for myself, but success in building His kingdom.
Making our “aim” in life to complete the “tasks” God sets out for us is not an easy thing to do. It’s much easier to fulfill our own purposes and do things for ourselves. We’re innately selfish, but we don’t have to live that way. We must seek the strength of God and be encouraged and equipped by His Word to live out our true callings.
There is no better success or feeling of contentment than following God and encouraging others to do the same. Our mission isn’t to change the entire world on on our own. Our true mission is to shine for God and exemplify Him in every aspect of our life. When we live for Him and imitate Him, we slowly make changes right around us.
Let’s all make it our mission to give up our grasp on our life and our own vision and purposes for how it should look. Instead, let’s hand the reins to Him and allow Him to lead us and build us up to successfully finish our “races.”
Have a great week, friends! Thanks for reading. Please feel free to share! 🙂
