All my coffee drinking friends, or even friends who like to drink any kind of warm beverage from a mug, will hopefully emphasize with me here.
I have a problem…a mug collecting problem. Some might say an obsession.
Obsession is a little too harsh of a description. I just really love the beauty and uniqueness of all my mugs. All different sizes, colors, patterns, handles, shapes, etc. So many to choose from!
Why so Many?
Why do I have so many coffee mugs? Well, simply because I love to drink coffee and I love having a variety of mugs to drink it from! Makes my coffee drinking experience all the more enjoyable.
I started off with a handful of mismatched, random mugs from my college days, to a nice set that matched the dishes we received as a wedding present. After some time, and the more coffee I started drinking (which is quite a lot), I started receiving special mugs as gifts. My obsession…err, I mean love, for mugs began to take off from there.
Favorite Places to Buy
My absolute favorite place to purchase mugs is TJ Maxx. They usually have a large variety and they’re also very inexpensive (which encourages me to buy even more). They change out their inventory often, so I see new ones quite regularly.
I also love a company called, Mary & Martha. They sell beautiful and inspirational decor, dishware, jewelry and really unique gifts. My favorite part is that all their items have an inspirational message or verse on them. My home is now filled with more of God’s word, displayed through beautiful pieces. I have quite a few mugs from this company and love them all! They remind me of God’s truth while I’m drinking my coffee.
My Top Picks
I have a LOT of mugs and truly love them all, but I definitely have my favorites. There’s a good dozen or so that I seem to gravitate towards the most. Picking out my mug for the day is a really tough choice!
I keep my collection displayed on my mug rack. I found my mug rack at a consignment shop (for less than $10!), spray painted it in my favorite turquoise color and hung it up on my kitchen wall. Now my beautiful mugs are displayed like artwork for others to see. Plus, it frees up my cabinet space!
My biggest obstacle is having enough room on my rack to hold all my mugs!
Here’s a look at my top 10 favorite mugs and where they came from.
1. Mary & Martha – Grace and Gratitude Mug – Says, “Begin each day with a grateful heart.”
This one is super elegant and has a beautiful reminder. It inspires me while I drink my coffee. 🙂
2. Mary & Martha – Abundant Grace Mug – Says, “Abundant Grace” all around it.
Such a good reminder and truth that God is full of “abundant grace.” Plus, the colors and design are beautiful.
3. Pottery Bayou – Hand Painted/Designed (by me) Mug
I love this one for many reasons. It’s large…fits LOTS of coffee! It’s painted and designed by me….made specifically to my taste. It was made with loved ones…a family outing that I cherish.
4. Mary & Martha – Adventure On Mug – Says, “Live Courageously Adventure On.”
This has such a great message. My focus word this year is “Bold,” so this mug reminds me to be bold in my faith and have courage. Life is an “adventure” when we live without fear and trust in God.
5. TJ Maxx – Choose Happy Mug
This one is a beauty (those gold accents) and a good reminder. I choose happiness/joy every day. No matter our circumstances, we can choose to be happy knowing how great, loving and merciful our Father is.
6. TJ Maxx – Floral Design Mug
This one is just pretty. It’s also really big and has a really cool handle. I just like the uniqueness of it!
7. TJ Maxx – Owl Mug
One of my best friends gave this to me as a Christmas gift a few years ago. It blends two things I really like: owls and coffee. Plus, the colors are really bright and pretty!
8. Hobby Lobby – Christmas Mug – Says, “Jesus is the Reason for the Season.”
This one doesn’t need much of an explanation. It’s a beautiful color and a beautifully true statement. Plus, I love Christmas mugs (I have a nice little collection of those alone.)!
9. Meijer – Breakfast at Tiffany’s Mug
I love this one, because “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” has been my favorite movie since I was 16. Audrey Hepburn is one of my favorites (I may or may not have her entire movie collection..).
10. Pier One – Gold Initial Mug
I just love this mug because it’s pretty and has my initial. Added Bonus…it was only $3 on clearance!
